The Meteorological Department says rain showers or thundershowers will occur occasionally in the Northern, North Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in several places elsewhere on the island during the evening or night.

Heavy rains of about 150 mm are likely at some places in North, North Central, East and Uva provinces, it said.

The public is kindly requested to take appropriate precautions to minimize damage caused by occasional localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
