The exercise book returned to the former Penzance school after 49 years

Deputy headteacher Kirstie Oliver said: “We were all blown away by this book which had been hiding at the bottom of a drawer and not been found for 49 years.”

The book, labeled Roman Studies, was filled with neat handwriting and detailed sketches of an amphitheater, Roman bath systems and cities.

“I could tell this wasn’t just any exercise book,” Morgan said. “It was filled with such dedication and detail that I felt it deserved to be returned.”

When presented with the book, Morris said he had “absolutely no recollection” of ever drawing the illustrations.

“I recognize the handwriting but I wish I could still draw like that,” he said.
