CLARENDON, Jamaica— Mayor May Pen Joel Williams is expecting a comfortable victory for Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) candidate Suzette Barton when the votes are counted in the Aenon Town Division on Friday night.

“I’m responsible for a cluster of three voting departments. So far, based on our canvas, I’m happy with how we’re flowing.”

“I expect things to pick up during the day. You’ve got people still in work. You’ve got people coming in from different wards working outside the constituency, so by midday I expect our numbers to surpass what they would have gotten in the box in the last election, Williams added Observe online.

He said voters will vote for the JLP candidate because of years of neglect suffered under the People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament (Horace Dalley) and Councilor (Delroy Dawson).

“It is historically a PNP seat (but) what has happened is that they have taken the people for granted, very little work has been done. When you look at the condition of the roads in the area – no respect to former MP Horace Dalley who was in power for 18 years, and you were a minister – I would have expected the roads in the area to be much better than what I have seen.”

“Like my former colleague Councilor Dawson, who is on today’s ticket, I would have expected you as a councilor to have done a lot better, in terms of road, in terms of water, in terms of the whole of agriculture the sector,” Williams added.

He said the people felt abandoned under the PNP representation.

“You talk to the people and you get the feeling that we were taken for granted. Nothing has really been done for them to improve their lives. “I’m pretty sure Suzette will do a great job when given the opportunity this afternoon,” Williams added.
