BTS’ oldest member, Kim Seokjin aka Jin, released his first ever solo album, Happy, on November 15th. After the release, the 31-year-old K-pop sensation has been busy with promotional activities. Adding to the excitement, Jin recently made his first solo appearance on American television.

On November 20, Jin appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Happy. In the episode, he performed the title track of his album and also discussed various aspects of his life with the host. During their conversation, Jimmy asked how Jin got the nickname “Worldwide Handsome.” The BTS star put his usual goofy side on full display: “Because I’m so handsome, I gave it to myself. I think it expresses me best.” The response left the audience in splits.

In another part of the episode, Jin, who released an extended version of his popular song Super Tuna in October, shared how he came up with the idea to propose to a fish in the song. He said: “I really love fishing, but I’ve never caught a tuna. So I made this song with the hope of catching a tuna. This is basically my love letter to the Dragon King under the sea.”

In addition, Jin also taught the hook step of Super Tuna to the host. The song is his first musical project after his discharge from the military. BTS Jin completed his mandatory service in June this year.

Furthermore, the duo also talked about Jin’s now released album Happy. Jimmy asked how his first solo album differed from the group’s album. The BTS singer shared that the albums as a group contain the opinions of all seven of them, but for Happy, his opinion was the most important. Therefore, it felt much more personal to him.

At the same time, he also explained the reason why he named his first ‘Happy’, saying, “Happiness is a very important word and has value to me. Simply because it is so important to me, I wanted to express happiness through music. So it is why the title of my album is Happy.”

In addition to his first ever solo performance on American television, Jin also held a two-day event on November 16 and 17 at the Jangchung Arena in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. In addition, he will also go on a theme park date with 50 lucky ARMYs on November 24th at the carousel in Lotte World Adventure, Songpa, Seoul, to promote his album.
