MG HS PHEV Launched in Pakistan – Specifications and Price

MG Pakistan has introduced the locally assembled MG HS Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in Pakistan.

Positioned as a premium option in the PKR 7-9 million range, the HS PHEV offers competitive performance, modern design and impressive fuel efficiency, rivaling popular models such as the Honda Civic RS and Haval H6 HEV.

Now produced locally as a CKD (completely knocked down) unit, this second generation HS comes with an updated feature set aimed at making hybrid technology more accessible to the Pakistani market.

Power and performance:

The MG HS PHEV’s hybrid system combines a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, offering a combined output of 260 hp and a robust 370 Nm of torque.

The engine produces 160 hp, while the electric motor produces 120 hp. Coupled with a 10-speed EDU2 automatic transmission, the HS PHEV provides smooth front-wheel drive.

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds, and with a 16.6 kWh battery, it has a combined fuel efficiency of up to 58.8 km/L (WLTP standard). However, on Pakistani roads, this efficiency is realistically expected to vary between 28-35 km/L, still an impressive feat for a mid-size crossover.

Interior and comfort:

The spacious interior has sports seats made of leather and PVC, with a 6-way electric power seat and a 4-way electric passenger seat.

A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a 12.1-inch virtual cockpit for a fully digital driving experience.

Other practical touches include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof with anti-pinch function, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers and rear AC vents.

Rear passengers benefit from extra comfort features such as footwell AC vents, a rear armrest and USB ports, while a power tailgate adds convenience.

Exterior design:

The front is enhanced by matrix LED headlamps with DRLs and an auto-dip function, and the dual-tone 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels add to the crossover’s stylish appeal.

The rear includes 3D LED taillights with 96 LEDs, while dual exhausts and a digital low grill complete its aggressive stance.

Practical additions such as roof rails and keyless entry with a start button function round off the package.

Advanced security features:

The HS PHEV is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and advanced systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). Intelligent safety systems such as Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Blind Spot Information System are also included, giving the HS PHEV a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

The MG Pilot package offers additional features, including Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Speed Assistance and High-Beam Control, increasing safety in all driving conditions.

MG Cyberster:

Meanwhile, MG’s much-anticipated all-electric roadster, the Cyberster, also made an exclusive debut in Pakistan, creating excitement among car enthusiasts.

This marks MG’s return to two-door sports cars after a 14-year hiatus. Showcased at the Pakistan Motor Show, the Cyberster blends retro design with modern EV technology, leaving many to wonder if it’s just a display or a prelude to its official launch in Pakistan.

Exterior design:

Exteriorly, the Cyberster draws inspiration from classic MG roadsters, with a low, aerodynamic body, multi-spoke wheels and Brembo brakes for added sportiness.

The front features angular LED headlights and the Kammback rear reduces drag for improved performance.

The roadster’s standout features include scissor doors and a retractable soft top, adding to its sporty appeal.

Interior exclusivity:

Inside, sustainability and technology shine with vegan leather, recycled materials and an immersive driver-focused cockpit with high-tech screens, ox-style steering, Bose audio and regenerative braking.

The cabin also includes 14-point ADAS features and launch control, giving it a futuristic edge.

Power and performance:

The Cyberster is powered by two variants – rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. A robust 77kW battery delivers over 500 horsepower with an astonishing 700+ Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

Its 144 kWh charger supports fast charging and reaches 80% in 45 minutes, making the Cyberster a strong contender in the EV space.
