(Gray News) – Former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said he will not rejoin Congress next year, according to a CNN report.

CNN reported that Gaetz told Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist, in an interview that he does not “intend to join the 119th Congress.”

Gaetz resigned from the House earlier this month after Trump selected him as his choice for attorney general. Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration on Thursday.

Trump later announced Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general, as his new pick to lead the Justice Department.
