FORT ST. JOHN, BC — Rising Above Ministry has reached new heights to raise awareness of its services in the Safeway parking lot in Fort St. John.

Friday, November 22, Dan Rigler, a Rises over Grande Prairie board member and maintenance manager with Sterling Crane, will spend the weekend in a secure basket 180 feet in the air using a Sterling crane.

Rising Above board member Jared Braun was on hand for the spectacle to share his thoughts with Energeticcity.ca.

“You can’t help but drive down the freeway or drive around town and wonder, ‘Why is there a crane with a guy way up in the air?'” Braun said.

According to Braun, Rigler is no stranger to this type of eyewear and was happy to help out at Fort St. John.

“Dan has been a loyal board member with them, and he’s stepped up to the basket like this two different times over there in Grand Prairie and offered to come and do this for us here,” Braun said.

Rigler is equipped with accessories such as food, a mattress, a pillow, a safety harness and his phone.

“We managed to get some power so he’s warmed up so he doesn’t freeze, because it’s obviously quite cold outside, but he’s coming down all weekend to wash up and get some food. And people are welcome to come see him and say hello,” Braun said.

Rising Above Ministry is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people struggling with addiction.

“We want the community to be aware that there is an addiction treatment center here in Fort St John to help women, to help them break cycles of defeat,” says Braun.

Braun encourages people to visit Rising Above Ministry website to learn about the faucet event and their organization.
