Police are investigating after a man died after an argument with his wife near the Homestead motel

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Authorities are investigating the death of a man after an argument with his wife outside a Homestead motel on Wednesday.

Miami-Dade police said officers from the Homestead Police Department were dispatched to the Nexx Motel, located at 841 N. Krome Ave., at approximately 11:16 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a disturbance.

Authorities said when officers arrived, they discovered an unresponsive man at the scene.

Police said paramedics took the man to Jackson South Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead despite extensive life-saving efforts.

Preliminary findings by Miami-Dade Police Department homicide detectives indicate the incident began as an argument between the man and his wife while they were in a vehicle outside the motel. The disagreement reportedly became physical, and during the argument the man became unresponsive, according to investigators.

Police said both the man’s wife and hotel security contacted emergency services after realizing the gravity of the situation.

As part of the investigation, MDPD Detective Andre Martin confirmed that the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death. He also said the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is also reviewing the case in its entirety.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man or his wife. No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning and it remains unclear if charges will be filed.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
