Clients Now Negotiating Comedian Fees Due To Hardship – MC Forever

Nigerian comedian Akuidolo Orevaoghene popularly known as MC Forever has shared insights on how the tough economic climate is affecting the entertainment industry.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he explained that comedians are facing increased negotiations over their fees due to rising financial constraints.

“Honestly, it’s more strenuous than it used to be,” he said. “People are now more careful with their spending, which means they dispute the fees we charge for our performances. What used to be an acceptable rate is now being questioned. Many are saying, ‘I can’t afford it anymore; things are tough. Please consider lowering your price.’ While it is laudable to consider one’s financial challenges, it puts us in a dilemma because this is what one earns to take care of one’s family.”

Forever also discussed the dual influence of social media on his career and gleaned wisdom from his high school agricultural science teacher. He said: “My teacher always said that whatever has an advantage definitely has a disadvantage. Social media has leveled the playing field, making it easier for people to become famous and reach certain heights. But it has also made it easy for people to lose focus .”

He explained that many entrepreneurs today are distracted by comparisons to others, saying: “When there was no social media, it was hard to judge another person’s success. Those guys could have stayed on their path and focused on their own goals.”
