The Social Democrats promise to introduce plans for a four-day working week

The Social Democrats have revealed their labor rights policy, which is expected to be launched later today.

They plan to replace the minimum wage with one living wage in two years and set up a commission to investigate, try and determine a way to introduce one four day work week.

The party also hopes to legislate to protect workers from being penalized for union membership, create a regular review of the new living wage benchmark to ensure it reflects the actual cost of living, and combat unsafe working practices by extending the scope of existing zero-hours bans /if-and-when-contract.

The policy will be launched by Dublin Central candidate Gary Gannon and Mid-West Dublin candidate Eoin Ó Broin.
