Actress takes U-turn to pursue sexual harassment complaint against Mukesh, Jayasurya, others

Aluva: The actress from Aluva, who had announced earlier withdrawal of her sexual assault reports against seven peopleincluding prominent actors like Mukesh, Jayasurya, Idavela Babu and Balachandra Menon, has now taken a U-turn and says she will not do the same. Speaking to Mathrubhumi on Sunday, she stressed that her decision to pursue the case is in the interest of justice.

Earlier, the actress had publicly announced on social media her decision to withdraw the complaints due to lack of support from the government. The actress claimed that she stands firm in her quest for justice.

Regarding the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) case booked against her based on a complaint by one of her relatives, the actress reiterated her innocence and said that she had financially supported that relative and helped her when she came forward with concerns for a person is allegedly following her with the intention of throwing acid at her. The actress claimed that she was the one who alerted the authorities and protected the girl from him.

A complaint was filed with all relevant authorities requesting a proper investigation into the case. But no action was taken, she claimed. The actress stated that there should also have been an investigation if anyone she had complained about was involved in the incident. She further explained that she decided to come forward and reveal everything now, after all this time, purely for the good of society. She added that she wished no one else would have to endure a similar situation in the future.

According to the minor girl’s statement, on the other hand, in 2014, the actress took her and her mother to Chennai on the pretext of an audition. There, the actress allegedly tried to hand the girl over to several people in a hotel. The complaint also accused the actress of having ties to a sex-trafficking ring. In response, the Muvattupuzha police registered a case against the actress under the POCSO Act.
