A Kansas City man could face life in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a child

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City man could face life in prison after he was accused of sexually abusing a child over a 5-month period.

Clay County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed Wednesday, Nov. 20 show that Charles G. Hedinger, 68, of Kansas City, has been charged in connection with the sexual abuse of a child.

A bond-over statement noted that the offenses are believed to have taken place between December 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022. Hedinger has been charged with statutory sodomy of a child under 12.

If convicted, Hedinger could face life in prison without the chance of parole until 85% of his sentence is served. As of Saturday, November 23, he does not appear to be behind bars and a warrant has not been served for his arrest.

An arraignment has been set for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5. No further information has been provided.
