We will compare their design, screens, performance, battery life, cameras and audio output. Our reviews for both of these smartphones are also out, and those links are included in the first paragraph above, if you need more information. With that out of the way, let’s get to it.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Design

As you can see, both devices have a centered screen camera hole at the top, although the Pixel 9 Pro XL sits a little lower in comparison. Both smartphones also offer very thin bezels, which are also uniform, by the way. Those on the Find X8 Pro are a bit thinner, but only slightly. You’ll notice that the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers more of a curve in the corners, although the difference there isn’t that big either.

Both smartphones have power/lock and volume up/down buttons on the right side, but their placement is not the same. The power/lock button sits above the volume rocker on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It’s the opposite on the Find X8 Pro. OPPO’s handset also has a camera button on the right side. There’s also an IR blaster on top of the phone, which is something the Pixel 9 Pro XL also doesn’t offer.

If we turn them over, you will notice completely different camera modules. The Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a pill-shaped display that is horizontal. The Find X8 Pro has a circular camera module, which is centered in the upper part of the phone’s back. Both camera modules stand out on the back, Pixel 9 Pro XL is more than OPPO’s. Both smartphones have a flat frame all around, and both are made of aluminum and glass.

OPPO Find X8 Pro has a micro-quad-curved display, which means that the glass on top of the display is slightly curved towards the sides, on all sides. The screen itself is flat. The same applies to the back plate, it is proportionally curved. The front and back of the Pixel 9 Pro XL are flat. The two phones are almost identical in terms of height, width and thickness. OPPO Find X8 Pro is 6 grams lighter. Both devices offer IP68 certification, while OPPO’s also has an IP69 certification for water and dust resistance. Both are quite slippery, by the way.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Display

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 6.8-inch 2992 x 1344 LTPO OLED display. That panel is flat and it offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). HDR10+ content is supported here, while the screen’s peak brightness is 3,000 nits, in theory. The screen-to-body ratio is around 88%, while the aspect ratio is 20:9. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection from Corning sits on top of the screen.

The OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the back, has a 6.78-inch 2780 x 1264 LTPO AMOLED display. That panel is also flat, while offering an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). Dolby Vision is supported here, as is HDR10+ content. Peak brightness is 4,500 nits, in theory. The screen-to-body ratio is around 90%. Gorilla Glass 7i is included on the front of the phone, on top of the screen.

Both of these screens are actually outstanding. You will be hard pressed to find anything to complain about. Well, the Find X8 Pro offers high-frequency PWM dimming, so if you’re sensitive to that, you’ll definitely prefer OPPO’s panel. If not, both will be outstanding for you. They are vivid, have great viewing angles, the resolution on both is very high and the blacks are deep. The touch response is also very good, and both panels are more than bright enough when you need them.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Performance

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is powered by the Google Tensor G4 processor. It’s a 4nm processor, and it’s paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 flash memory. The OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the other hand, is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor, a 3nm chip. That chip is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage is also part of the package. Storage expansion is not available on either device.

MediaTek’s processor is more powerful, there’s no doubt about that, but Google did a good job optimizing the Tensor G4 for its latest Pixel smartphones. Both devices will serve you well in daily use, as they are very fast in everything they do. The Find X8 Pro will do better in intense gaming scenarios, although the Tensor G4 is very capable in that regard as well, but it’s not the best chip for gaming, that’s for sure.

Neither phone got too hot while gaming, although they both get quite warm during more intensive sessions. The Find X8 Pro is the better option for gaming if that’s something you plan to do. But if you’re not, either will serve you well. The performance has been outstanding for us in basically every way.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Battery

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 5,060 mAh battery inside. OPPO’s flagship comes with a 5,910 mAh battery. The difference in battery capacity is quite staggering. OPPO used a silicon-carbon battery, which explains how it managed to cram it into the phone. OPPO’s handset has a much larger battery pack, but does it offer better battery life? Yes, it does.

Just to be clear, the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers great battery life, more than anything anyone needs on a daily basis. It just goes to show how outstanding the OPPO Find X8 Pro’s battery life is. Pretty much no one will need to charge that phone during the day, as we could really go a long way with it. We easily passed the 8-hour screen-on-time mark and had juice to spare, even during the most intense testing days. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is also good, although its battery life is about 15-20% lower in our tests. That said, it’s not bad, as it still offers great endurance.

When it comes to charging, the OPPO Find X8 Pro easily outperforms the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The phone supports 80W wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging. Pixel 9 Pro XL supports 37W wired, 23W wireless (with Pixel Stand), 12W wireless (Qi) and 5W reverse wireless charging. OPPO’s handset will charge much faster in every way, despite having a bigger battery pack. OPPO’s handset also comes with a charger, unlike the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL vs OPPO Find X8 Pro: Cameras

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor), a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/2.55-inch sensor, 123-degree FoV) and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (1/2.55-inch sensor, 5x optical zoom). OPPO Find X8 Pro, on the back, has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.4-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.75-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera ( 1 /1.95-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom) and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.51-inch sensor, 6x optical zoom).

Yes, OPPO offers a total of one secondary camera and two periscope telephoto cameras. That makes it more versatile in terms of zoom range. Both the smartphones have very capable main camera and main camera sensors. The one on the Pixel 9 Pro XL is slightly larger, but the Find X8 Pro is more capable and newer. However, the imaging that these two phones offer is very different.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL favors cooler tones and has that Pixel imaging that you either love or hate. The photos of the OPPO Find X8 Pro look more realistic, with outstanding colors, thanks to Hasselblad. Both phones do a good job in HDR situations, and they also do well in low light. The Pixel 9 Pro XL tends to brighten low-light photos a little too much most of the time, and you’ll either love it or hate it. The balance of the Find X8 Pro is more our speed, as the images look more realistic.

We preferred to use the Find X8 Pro’s telephoto cameras as they cover everything between 1 and 10x perfectly, and do well beyond that, up to 30x. The Pixel 9 Pro XL isn’t bad at all in that regard, but we’re giving OPPO the edge on it. Both ultra-wide cameras do a good job, but not on par with the main sensors. The color science is well replicated by them, but they trail the main cameras pretty well in that regard.

Audio

There is a set of stereo speakers on both these smartphones. Both sets are actually really good. They are very similar in terms of general loudness, and sound quality is good on both.

There’s no audio jack on either phone, but both support audio via the Type-C port, if you want to use wired headphones. If you prefer wireless headphones, on the other hand, the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers Bluetooth 5.3, while the OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.4 support.
