Howmet donation helps local substance abuse facility transportation needs

HOLIDAYS (KFDX/KJTL) — Hope Center Ministries in Holliday is one step closer to providing the help its clients need, thanks to a generous donation from Howmet Aerospace.

On Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, representatives from Howmet presented a check for $15,000. Officials there said the money would be used to purchase a delivery van. The center’s director, Sabrina Luffan, said the center’s Holliday campus houses over 25 clients who need help getting back on their feet from addiction and substance abuse situations.

She said the van will be used to transport them from various appointments such as vocational training and medical appointments. She said it’s because of the generosity of community-minded businesses like Howmet that keep those in need off the streets and help them have better lives.

“It helps save lives. Literally helps save lives. Some of these women don’t have the means to get to and from. They don’t have a warm bed to sleep in. They have no hope. And that we’ve received this generous grant from Howmet means they can get hope again. They can get to the places they need to go, and they see their lives slowly being restored to what they were doing all along.”

Hope Center Ministries’ mission statement says they exist to lead addicts and their families to follow Christ.

Luffan said their center is always looking for volunteers. For more information about the center, click here.
