Coronation Street airs a surprise baby twist in the ITVX episode

Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday’s Episode (November 22)which is available to watch now streaming service ITVX but has yet to air on ITV1.

Coronation Street has hinted that the Platts may stop raising Lauren Bolton’s son Frankie.

Lauren suggested the unexpected idea in Friday’s episode when she reached out to Max Turner for support as she faces a potentially bleak future in prison.

Earlier this week, Lauren came clean to the police of how she was responsible for striking the fatal blow who killed Joel Deering.

This eventually led to the release of Max, who had made a failed attempt to falsely take the blame for the crime.

In Friday’s episode, Max faced further questioning as he was still in trouble with the police for his attempts to pervert the course of justice.

At this point, Max was still unaware that his stepfather David Platt had precipitated Lauren’s downfall by handing over the incriminating letter detailing the teenagers’ cover-up plan.

DC Kit Green filled in the blanks and advised Max that his family had intervened to protect him. The revelation went down very badly with Max, who was furious with David for interfering.

Later, a jailed Lauren called Roy Cropper at the cafe and got a chance to talk to Max when Roy handed over the phone.

Lauren updated Max on how she hopes to raise Frankie in the prison’s mother and baby unit, but isn’t sure if permission to do so will be granted.

She asked, “Max, if they say no, will you take care of him? You and your family, please? I know it’s a lot to ask. You don’t have to answer now, but please, will you take care of him?”

Back at the Platt house, Max told David and Shona about Lauren’s request and hinted that he wanted to say yes.

Max announced, “Frankie will be moving in with us. If Lauren doesn’t get to keep him with her, then he’s our responsibility. It’ll be your fault he doesn’t have a mother—the least you can do is give him one good home.”

When David protested the practicality of the situation, Max refused to listen. Could the Platts welcome a new arrival?

Coronation Street broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streamed further ITVX.
