Bozeman’s business prepares for Brawl of the Wild

Playing a round of pool or hanging out with friends and family, enjoying great food and drink, and the University of Montana Grizzlies and Montana State University Bobcats Brawl of the Wild game is what awaits Bozeman bars and restaurants this weekend.

Cousins Pub recently opened in downtown Bozeman and the business is gearing up for its first Cat-Griz game.

“We know we’re going to be busy. Brody and I are incredibly excited about it. There’s some trepidation, there’s some nervousness because it’s your first,” said Trip McFall, co-owner of Cousins Pub.

McFall said what helps take the nerves away is the support the pub gets from other local bars and the community and has a great staff.

He adds that making customers feel welcome is what will drive success for his business.

“When people walk in, if they’re a local, if they’re not from around here or anything in between. If they’re a Griz fan or if they’re a Cats fan, they walk in and they feel like they belong here,” says McFall.

At Bourbon BBQ Restaurant, this will be their second Cat-Griz game they are preparing for.

Co-owner Jay Thane says his company is staffed for the busy day and will handle the potentially large crowd with a good attitude.

“Being upfront with people when they come in the door. If you can’t get them a seat, try your best to get them a drink. People are pretty understanding once they’ve got a drink in their hand when they’re out and celebrating,” said Thane.

Thane said it is a special deal for customers to choose their facility as their venue of choice to watch the match and have a good time.

“We’re grateful for everyone who comes through the door. Grateful for people who support small businesses like ours. So many around town. It’s going to be a great weekend for everyone,” Thane said.
