Experience the fun festivities of Homecoming Weekend at Arizona State

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Heading to Arizona State University to experience all the action during Homecoming Weekend? School will start lots of events for students, alumni and society.

ASU takes the field against BYU on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., so don’t miss out on all the festivities!

WP Carey Homecoming Bash – Friday for students, alumni only

WP Carey students and alumni are encouraged to attend a networking event before the Homecoming Bash. The Business School Council will host WP Carey, alumni who allow students and organizations to connect with alumni.

The event will be held on the Deans Patio outside WP Carey business school on Friday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm where there will be free food and items.

Golden Friday – Downtown Phoenix

Students at ASU’s downtown Phoenix campus can take part in all the homecoming festivities on Friday! Show off your school spirit by wearing gold and stop by Taylor Mall for free items.

Homecoming Lantern Walk

Lantern Walk remains one of ASU’s oldest and most cherished traditions. First celebrated in 1917, students, alumni, faculty and families climb to the top of “A” Mountain carrying lanterns to light up the night sky. Once atop the mountain, Homecoming royalty will be crowned and Sparky will help light up the “A.”

The hike will take place on Friday and will begin at the base of Tempe Butte (“A” Mountain) with a DJ at 17.30. The hike up starts around 18.00

ASU Homecoming Parade

It is one of the school’s biggest and longest traditions — the ASU Homecoming Parade! Student organizations, colleges, departments, community organizations and local legends are all invited to build a float or march in the parade. Led by the ASU Marching Band, the parade will begin at least 3 hours before the football game.

Some floats that will be in this year’s parade include Hispanic Business Students Association and one Uzbekistan is floating! Students showcase Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage, and the floats will have traditional decorations and symbols that connect students to their roots.

The parade will take place on University Drive between Forest Avenue and McAllister Avenue at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Homecoming Pep Rally

Get excited for the Homecoming game against BYU by grabbing some food and playing some games! There will be one pep rally on Barrett Academic Courtoutside the dining room, on Saturday from 12 pm to 1 pm there will be free popcorn and snow cones.

Carne Asada tailgate

The Hispanic Business Students Association will host one carne asada tailgate before the game, and you’re invited! The tailgate will take place at the corner of University Drive and College Avenue on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

There will be tacos and HBSA tailgate t-shirts for sale. Student tickets will be sold for $8 and non-student tickets will be sold for $10. Bring friends and family, the event is open to the public!
