Long Sutton County Primary School thanks ‘fantastic’ contractors after roof leak

A primary school has thanked “fantastic” staff and contractors for their swift work to repair a “significant water leak” from the roof.

Long Sutton County Primary School, on Dick Turpin Way, suffered water damage after a downpour of heavy rain overnight on Monday.

Pupils in years three, four, five and six were asked to stay at home – but pre-school, reception and years one and two could go to school as usual.

Leaders at the elementary school were grateful for all the support they received from contractors and staff Darren Goult — with a post on social media explaining the team was able to clear the water and carry out safety checks on the building’s roof and electricity to avoid further disruption into today.

Sarah Gray, the school’s head teacher, said: “Following heavy rain overnight there was a significant water leak in one area of the school which resulted in the closure of Key Stage Two.

“This was quickly resolved thanks to our fantastic staff and contractors along with the invaluable support of the Keystone Trust. We are therefore able to safely operate as usual today.”

All students were welcomed back to school on Wednesday morning.
