Adani Group rejects $250m bribery allegations, terms ‘baseless’, ET EnergyWorld

New Delhi: The Adani group on Thursday rejected allegations by US prosecutors that its chairman, Gautam Adani, paid over $250 million (about INR 2,100 crore) in bribes to secure government contracts in India.

In a statement, the group dismissed the allegations brought by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as unfounded. The charges relate to claims of bribes paid in connection with solar energy contracts.

“The allegations by the US DOJ and SEC against directors of Adani Green are baseless and denied,” the group said.

An Adani Group spokesperson noted that the allegations remain allegations and have not been proven. “The allegations in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” the spokesperson said.

The group stated that it complies with governance standards and compliance requirements in all jurisdictions in which it operates. “We maintain the highest standards of governance, transparency and compliance. We assure stakeholders, partners and employees that we are a law-abiding organization and fully comply with all laws,” the statement added
