Jelly Roll in the fight against food addiction: “It’s like an avalanche”

Jelly Roll has opened up about his weight loss journey and his battle with food addiction.

The singer and rapper opened up about losing 110 pounds and counting in a new interview with People magazine where he candidly discussed the origins of his food issues.

“The fight was about food addiction, which changed the way I looked at food for the last 39 years,” he shared.

He continued: “I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way.

“No one in my house ever had (a healthy relationship with food), so that was the hard part, really fighting that demon first and getting into that discipline and that commitment.”

Jelly Roll embarked on a health and fitness journey earlier this year and has revealed he has lost 110kg. He has continued and adapted his lifestyle as a way to maintain momentum in his weight loss journey. Playing basketball is something he has implemented into his daily life and shared that it has helped both his physical and mental health.

“It’s cool because it was once in my life when the culture I built on tour was the opposite. It revolved around alcohol and drugs, he tells the news agency. “And now our tour culture is about good food and about working out and doing emotional check-ins with our crew every day.”

In other news, Jelly Roll was recently was announced as the opening support for Post Malone on his “The Big Ass Stadium Tour”.

Elsewhere, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson opened up about the impact one of Jelly Roll’s songs had on him during a rough patch with mental health. The actor said he had discovered the “Need a Favor” singer’s work when he was “going through a difficult time”.

“It really moved me and touched me,” he said of the lyrics. “We got in touch and I told him what it meant to me. We didn’t know each other but became really good friends. That’s my boy, and I love that guy.”
