Alison Hammond reveals late mum gives her advice ‘he’s no good’

Alison Hammond has told how she hears her late mother giving her advice about her love life.

This morning Presenter Hammond’s mother Maria died in 2020 after being diagnosed with cancer. The star has now written her first book, Bombshell, revealing that the main character’s mother, like her, has died.

She said she included sections in the book where Madison’s mother talked to her.

Discusses her book about The One Showsaid Hammond: “It’s dedicated to her (Hammond’s mother) but she didn’t get to see it, but the character Madison, her mother has also passed away.

“There are times in the book where Madison’s mom talks to her and it happens to me all the time. Like, I hear my mom giving me advice saying, ‘No, no, he’s not good.'”

“Madison lives in my head,” she said. “The only experiences I have are my life, so obviously everything that happens in this book is from my head or from people I know in the industry who have told me some gossip.

“It’s from my own experiences but it’s just the right amount of drama!”

Hammond also shared how she reworked the ending of Bombshell on the advice of Aidan, her 19-year-old DJ son.

She explained that he was reading bits and pieces as she went and didn’t like her plan for the ending.

“Toward the end because I basically wanted to kill the main character… but I didn’t end up killing him, because he was like, what are you doing?” she said.

“He always puts in his two cents worth anyway. He’ll look at me on TV and say, ‘You shouldn’t have said that.’ So he was reading it as it went and he said ‘Mom change the ending’ and I said “OK.” If he says that, it puts it in my head and then I have to change the ending.

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm weekdays.
