Jim Gaffigan reveals why he quit McDonald’s

Jim Gaffigan named his latest standup special The skinny one. And if he looks thinner than usual on stage, thanks to the appetite-suppressing drug Mounjaro, which has completely reshaped his relationship with food.

“I still have my fat clothes, I’m not an idiot,” Gaffigan says in this clip — obtained exclusively by the Daily Beast — from The skinny onewhich premieres Friday, November 22 on Hulu.

He jokes that he sees them in his closet “taunting” him with threats that he will soon wear them again.

“The drug changes your attitude toward food,” Gaffigan says of Mounjaro, which, like Ozempic, has become a go to celebrity diet help and non-celebrities in recent years. “I now look at McDonald’s as a weird crush I had. Like, ‘I can’t believe I was so into you.’

Gaffigan also admits that appetite suppression was not the intended use for Mounjaro. “The drug was created to help people with diabetes or something stupid,” he jokes.

The comedian, as recently made jokes together with McDonald’s superfan Donald Trump at the Al Smith dinner, spoke more seriously about his weight loss experience in a new interview with Men’s health.

“I had very low expectations because I knew someone who had tried it and they said, ‘Oh no, I was just nauseous for a week,'” he told the magazine. “And then I thought my true joy in eating would overcome anything.”

But in the end, the drug helped him lose 50 pounds, he revealed, adding: “I’m fine. I’m just grateful that it’s such a better life.”
