Mold and bacteria found at Tom’s of Maine facility, FDA letter says

(CNN) — The Federal Drug Administration said inspectors found health violations at a Tom’s of Maine facility this year.

The violations include bacteria in water used for toothpaste and bacterial growth in a separate toothpaste.

The FDA said the inspection also revealed a black mold-like substance near manufacturing equipment, according to a warning letter to the authority.

Tom’s of Maine says it is working with the FDA to address the issues.
