vivo Y300 5G comes with 50 MP main camera

The Vivo Y300 arrived in India today, just as the company promised last week. The phone shares a lot of similarities with the vivo V40 Lite in Indonesia, but it has a slightly different camera setup, so we’re treating the device as new.

The Y300 comes in India with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB via Settings). There are two storage options, 128GB or 256GB; if that’s not enough, users can enjoy the micro SD card slot.

The front of the phone has a 6.67” AMOLED panel with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It also has a hole for 32 MP selfie camera.

Speaking of cameras, the Y300 excels in the main. It’s a 50MP shooter with a Sony IMX882 sensor, assisted by a 2MP portrait lens. The phone also has an AI aura ring light, which is different from the dual LED flash and acts as an additional light for portrait shots in the dark.

The phone also has some AI features like Erase or Enhance, which allow users to erase background objects or fix old, grainy photos. There’s also the infamous Super Moon feature, which takes a photo of the full moon and draws a realistic image (it’s not quite taking a detailed photo of the celestial object).

The Y300 has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging. According to the official website, it should charge from 0 to 80% in half an hour, but the FlashCharge feature can be turned off to protect the battery’s health.

The marketing slogan of the Y300 is “It’s my style”, and for that vivo implemented a high-gloss bezel and stylish color options. The Y300 comes in Titanium Silver, Emerald Green or Phantom Purple, and all three look gorgeous in the renders.

The phone has Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB-C port on the bottom but does not support FM radio or NFC. It comes with Android 14 and Funtouch OS 14 on top. The body also has an IP64 rating, which should protect the phone from dust and water splashes.

The Vivo Y300 is priced at INR 21,999 for the 128GB variant or INR 23,999 for the 256GB variant. It is currently available for pre-order on the company’s website and will go on sale on Tuesday, November 26.
