Car backing into Las Vegas Dollar Tree filled with people

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Surveillance video shows a group of people entering a Las Vegas business about a minute before an SUV crashes through the storefront.

This happened last Tuesday around 12pm at a Dollar Tree near Tropicana and Pecos.

Metro Police say they responded to an accident with injury. It is unclear how many were injured, and whether it was the driver or someone inside the store.

A mother who was inside the store with her daughter, who decided not to go on camera, says people inside the store hid in the back after hearing a loud crash.

She says she and her daughter are fine, but describes the incident as “traumatic”.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows people pouring into the store before a white SUV backs up through the storefront, then pulls out as quickly as it backs in.

The SUV then parks about a hundred meters away. It’s not clear what caused the driver to back into the store, but Metro Police say what happened was unintentional and no arrests have been made.

“The whole front of the store is basically gone, its wood planks cover the whole front, it’s pretty crazy,” said Lucino’s Pizza owner Joey Scolaro. “I’ve seen it before in town, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this serious, it’s pretty crazy.”

The front of the store is covered in plywood. Inside, Christmas decorations and other goods are scattered on the ground.

It’s not clear when the store will reopen, Dollar Tree has not responded to FOX5’s request for comment.

FOX5 has also requested the full incident report from the Metropolis.
