Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos reveals if she and Chock Chapple will have a televised wedding

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos revealed about her and fiancee Shock Chapple plans to televise their wedding.

“You absolutely won’t see a televised wedding for three months,” Joan, 61, added Us Weekly in an interview published on Tuesday, November 19.

Joan and Shock, 61, got engaged during the season finale on Nov. 13, just like The Golden Bachelorpp Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist in Season 1 in November 2023. But Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 71, wasted no time and tied the knot in a televised wedding in January. The former couple eventually announced their split three months later in April.

“I loved the ending for Gerry and Theresa. The reason we’re not having a wedding for three months has nothing to do with Gerry and Theresa,” Joan said of her and Chock’s reasoning for not rushing into marriage. “I want just don’t have another thing I have to plan right now.”

She continued, “When we get together for a wedding, which might be a televised wedding, it might not be, it won’t be in three months. I just don’t want to have anything else to plan right now.”

While Joan and Shock plan to take their time when it comes to their wedding, she insisted they are enjoying their engagement. “We love being together, and I want to take the time to get to know each other’s families and friends,” she said.

After confirming their engagement, Joan and Shock revealed their plans to spend time in New York City. But they made his intentions clear and explained they will not be in the city full time while talking to the outlet.

“Shock has a business in Kansas. I have kids and grandkids in Maryland. We know we’re going to spend time in (each place), but then we have this really fun plan: Both of us have always dreamed and finally, in this strange stage in life, realizing this dream – to live in a big city, specifically New York,” explained Joan. “We both love the energy. There is culture, and we both have friends there.”

The pair also talked about why they’re a good match, with Shock explaining that they “get along so well.”

“I call it the 5 percent. It’s the 5 percent you don’t usually lean toward. We’ve (said), ‘If it’s important to you, make sure the other person knows it.’ The other 95 percent of our age are flexible,” he said of the mindset. “We’ve been able to spend a lot of time together, and we’ve had to deal with some things, from family matters to business matters. We work so well together. And a lot of it is me just letting Joan take charge! She is very good at it too. I call her the matriarch. She says, ‘Don’t call me the matriarch.'”

While Chock said he also appreciated Joan’s “patience,” she explained that their romance works because they know they “have to respect each other’s existing lives but also prioritize each other.”
