Winston-Salem Police are investigating a fatal driver ejection on US-421

Around 10:50 Sunday night, Winston-Salem police were called to a reported crash on the Interstate 40 westbound exit to US-421 southbound.

After arriving at the scene, officers say they found a wrecked Buick along with the victim, Zachary Franklin Gordon.

Early investigation has shown that Gordon was driving on the ramp when he ran off the road.

Police say Gordon was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the southbound lanes of US-421, where traffic struck his body.

Gordon, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The police have alerted Gordon’s relatives about his death.
