Liam Gallagher now denies new Oasis album is in the works: ‘It was a laugh’

Liam Gallagher has gone back on its claims that Oasis currently recording a new album, telling fans “it was a laugh”.

Since the Britpop icons announced their first reunion shows earlier this year, which will see them play live together for the first time since 2009, Liam has teased that there’s more than just a tour on the horizon.

In September, when a fan asked “Is it true that Oasis are going to have a new album???”, Liam replied: “Yep it’s already done.” He also responded to a fan who asked if a new record was “in the air”, to which he said: “It’s in the bag mate, fuck the air”.

Then, earlier this month, he told fans on Twitter/X that he was “blown away” by the material Noel had written for the record. A comment he made back in April also resurfaced after the comeback announcement, where he suggested that Oasis would record a new album in November.

While Liam is known for being light-hearted and flippant on X/Twitter, and his tweets fail official confirmation, he has a form of leaking clues to the news before it becomes public knowledge, having initially teased the band’s reunion and their 2025 UK and Ireland tour dates before both were officially confirmed.

But now he’s dismissing his previous teasers and saying there’s no Oasis album in the works. Responding to a fan news account that claimed the brothers were “hard at work” on a new album, Liam said: “I was joking, remember them and the reason is because everyone is a bit tense these days, I’m sorry if I’ve upset anyone. other than damn me, it was a laugh.”

Then, in response to a fan who said the reunion is “enough”, Liam wrote: “Exactly people always want more let’s just go into a big arena and go see what happens after you’re with me or What”. He also responded to a fan who asked “why not?”, writing: “I’m busy”.

However, fans are still hopeful given the story of Liam’s tweets coming to fruition. This includes he mentioned the photo shoot he did with Noel before the comeback announcement, and hinted that the band are playing some big Manchester showsbefore anything was made official.

Lately he teased too that both Richard Ashcroft and Cast could potentially support Oasis, both again end to become official.

So far, Oasis reunion tour includes major stadium gigs in the UK and Irelandfollowed by a series of dates in North America. They then come back for two additional dates at London’s Wembley Stadium at the end of September, before heading to Australia for shows in Melbourne and Sydney and then play additional dates in South America.

NME exclusively revealed that Oasis would be heading to South America and Australia in a report last month. The article also listed upcoming appearances in other international territories, including South Korea and Japan.

The band previously confirmed that their 2025 UK and Ireland dates would be the only European shows on their comeback tour. They later told fans that plans were “under way” for further appearances around the world.

However, Oasis have ruled out a headline performance at Glastonbury in 2025 and said they won’t be appearing at any other festivals next summer. Liam and Noel have shot down rumors of a return to Knebworth in 2026 as well.
