Dallas police search for suspect who shot down Southwest Airlines flight

DALLAS – A Southwest Airlines plane preparing to take off from Dallas’ Love Field was hit by gunfire Friday night.

Dallas police responded to a shooting call around 9:50 p.m. at Love Field.

A Southwest Airlines spokesperson said Flight 2494, which was bound for Indianapolis, had to taxi back to the terminal after a bullet struck the right side of the plane, just below the cockpit.

None of the passengers or crew were injured, and the passengers were placed on another flight, a Southwest spokesman said. The aircraft hit by gunfire has been taken out of service.

Dallas police are still investigating the incident, a department spokesperson said Saturday morning. No arrests have been announced.
