“Me as a leader, of course I take that in,” he said NBC’s Jason Garrett. “You have to work. I use that as a building block. If you say these routes are lazy, things like that, let’s go out here every week. And I’ll show you that my routes… You know? Personally , I take it as constructive criticism. You can’t take everything personally in the work we do.

“Especially things that we can control. So if we can control it, let’s go out here, work on it and keep getting better. For me, I’m going to go to work, I’m a hard worker. So anything you say that I don’t, I’ll show you I do.”

Aikman made his comments in a radio interview earlier this month.

“I think they run terrible routes,” the three-time Super Bowl champion said in an interview on 96.7 The ticket in Dallas. “And I’ve thought about that beyond this year. I think CeeDee needs to improve his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not sure where guys are going to be consistently, it’s hard to play the position. That’s what I understand.

“I see guys who are lazy coming off the field. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it’s because they expect they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they’re not, they don’t .And it all comes together, I’m not impressed with that part of it.
