James Vincent Eade achieves industry leader status for contributions to the game of chess

Drawing on more than three decades of experience, James Vincent Eade is distinguished for his expertise in nonprofit management, chess playing and instruction, and writing. As a world-renowned chess master, chess tournament organizer and chess book publisher, in 2019 he founded The Eade Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides underserved communities with resources to cultivate the skill of chess players worldwide.

As the organization’s executive director, Mr. Eade sponsored annual scholarships for chess students through The Eade Foundation, having also donated hundreds of chess sets to individuals worldwide who otherwise could not afford them. The Eade Foundation was originally established in the United States; but in the last five years it has expanded to countries all over the world, such as Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Colombia and Nicaragua. Mr. Eade is currently establishing a chess academy in Uganda.

Alongside his endeavors in non-profit initiatives, Mr. Eade is the author of the latest title “Freedom: Your Road to Recovery.” The self-help book, which was published in 2023, is an autobiographical sketch of Mr. Eade’s experiences of addiction and recovery while serving as an inspiration to others with addictions pursuing a life of recovery. In “Freedom”, Mr. Eade the myriad of forms in which addiction occurs, and promotes the idea that everyone retains the inner strength to break free from the shackles of addiction to live with new meaning and purpose. To this end, he also emphasizes the power individuals have to reveal the masks of delusion that accompany addiction, especially in those whose journeys have been met with challenges by conventional recovery programs. “Freedom” is available on Amazon.com and in Barnes & Noble bookstores.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Eade worked as a senior systems programmer and director at The Charles Schwab Corporation. Following these appointments, he served as Trustee, Treasurer and President of the US Chess Trust from 2000 to 2019. An experienced chess tournament organizer dating back to the 1990s, he developed one of the most respected chess tournaments in San Francisco history.

PRICE HIGHLIGHTS

In light of his service to chess playing and organization, Mr. Eade received the Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the United States Chess Federation in 2018. He was also named Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016. Furthermore, he was recognized for Best Chess Website 2022 and Best Online Interview 2023 by Chess Journalists of America.

PUBLICATION OF HIGHLIGHTS

In addition to his remarkable work on “Freedom: Your Path to Recovery,” Mr. Eade Hypermodern Press, through which he has published several chess books by other authors. His own award-winning titles include the best-selling book “Chess for Dummies”, published in 1996, and “The Chess Player’s Bible”, published in 2004.
