Matthew Perry’s mother had a premonition that he would die shortly before the shock wore off from a drug overdose at the age of 54

Matthew Perry’s mother has revealed she had a “premonition” he was going to die shortly before his shock passed from a drug overdose aged 54 last year.

The Friends actor died of a ketamine overdose and drowning on October 28, 2023 at his home in Pacific Palisades.

Perry’s mother Suzanne Morrison and stepfather Keith Morrison have now opened up about the actor’s final days in a Today Show special with Savannah Guthrie – which will air on Monday, October 28 to mark the one-year anniversary of his death.

In a teaser clip shown on Friday, Suzanne, 81, said Perry showed her “one of his new houses” before saying: “He came up to me and said: ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now”.

It was almost as if it was a premonition of something. I didn’t think about it at the time but I thought, how long had it been since we had a conversation like that. Years have passed.

“I think there was something … there was an inevitability of what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly. But he said, ‘I’m not afraid anymore.'” And that worried me.

Chandler Bing star Perry’s manner of death was ruled accidental, and the autopsy report released in May found that the actor died from the acute effects of ketamine.

Contributing factors were cited as drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a prescription drug often used to treat people with opioid addiction.

It was later reported that at the time of his death, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy.

Last December, a medical expert speculated to Page Six that the actor “likely” obtained ketamine illegally for “recreational use.”

Although Perry was undergoing ketamine treatment for anxiety and depression at the time of his death, his autopsy report noted that “the ketamine in his system at death could not have come from that infusion therapy.” When the Friends star died, the LAPD began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his overdose.

The interview comes just weeks after one A California doctor has pleaded guilty for his role in Perry’s fatal overdose.

Mark Chaves appeared in an LA court on October 2nd where he formally pleaded guilty to illegal distribution of ketamine. The judge accepted the plea.

He faces up to 10 years in prison, even with a plea deal. He will be sentenced on April 2, 2025.

Before the court hearing, Chaves agreed to stop practicing medicine and surrendered his passport to the authorities.

It is understood Chavez sold ketamine lozenges to Dr Salvador Plasencia, who is accused of then giving them to Perry.

Plasencia faces separate charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Plasencia is accused of texting Chavez “I wonder how much this idiot is going to pay” when he learned Perry was seeking ketamine.

His attorney Matthew Binninger said after Chavez’s first court appearance on Aug. 30 that he is “incredibly remorseful” and “trying to do everything in his power to right the wrong that happened here.”
