Tyson Fury reveals hidden message in suit worn to launch press conference for his much-anticipated heavyweight rematch with Oleksandr Usyk – as he hits back at Ukrainian ‘Hitman’ warning

  • Fury and Usyk will face each other in a rematch on December 21
  • Usyk won the first fight between the pair via split decision in May
  • They met at a press conference in London on Wednesday afternoon

Oleksandr Usyk’s appearance at the launch press conference for his heavyweight rematch with Tyson Fury grabbed the headlines but the gypsy king has revealed a message hidden in his attire.

The boxers met in London on Wednesday to mark the start of the cycle that will culminate in a December 21 showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk won via split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in May and the Ukrainian arrived in the capital dressed as video game character Agent 47 from the Hitman series, in a clear nod to his confidence ahead of the rematch.

But Fury, who suffered the first defeat of his professional career against Usyk, also had a message hidden in his outfit for the event. The 36-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to hype up the match, revealing in a picture that his costume consisted of elaborate stitching that made them look like middle fingers.

“See you in Kingdom Agent 47,” he wrote on the social media platform. ‘Cause you’re the one who’s gonna get Hitman.

“It’s a well-known fact that I knock them down in the rematch and make no mistakes. The Gypsy King will right that wrong. Press commitments are done and I head to camp, laser-focused and eyes don’t lie. God bless you all.’

In May, Usyk scored a ninth-round knockdown after landing a barrage of punches that ultimately turned the contest in his favor, and is confident of getting his hand back up.

Usyk kept his cards close to his chest on Wednesday night, but attended the press conference wearing a black suit and carrying a mysterious briefcase.

He was asked what was in the briefcase and finally opened it before walking over to Fury with a photo in hand.

It turned out to be a picture of Usyk landing a huge left hand on Fury in their first fight, and he managed to convince the Gypsy King to sign it, drawing laughter from the assembled media.

Reflecting on how he plans to get a different result in their rematch, Fury said: ‘I’m just looking forward to a great fight. Oleksandr won the last fight fairly. It was a very close fight, only one point in it. A little more focus, a little less complacency and I will win.’
