Lewis Hamilton think Max Verstappen have taken advantage of “grey areas” in the rules to get away with avoiding punishment in battles.

Speaking ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix, Hamilton said: “It’s always been a gray area, that’s why he’s gotten away with it for so long.

“They probably need to make some adjustments, for sure. Also, we have inconsistencies through refereeing, weekend in, weekend out, obviously depending on what year it is.

“I mean, as a sport we need to level up in all areas and if you look at other global sports, for example, they have full-time referees, and I’m sure that wouldn’t be a bad thing for our sport.

“I’ve experienced that many times with Max. You shouldn’t just be able to start the car on the inside and be ahead and then you go away and still hold your position, so they definitely need to work on this.”
