Alabama man wins $1.3 million with Florida lottery scratch-off

A Baldwin County man walked out of a Florida convenience store $1.28 million richer this week.

Jeremy Smith, 49, of Lillian, bought a $10 TRIPLE 777 Scratch-Off ticket from a CEFCO Convenience Store in Gulf Breeze that contained a $2 million prize, according to a new release from the Florida Lottery.

He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time payment of $1,280,000 at the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee on Tuesday. CEFCO also received a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

According to the release, the Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $47 billion to improve education and sending more than 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue into the Florida economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,600 lottery dealers and transfers to education.

Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid out over $95.7 billion in prizes and made more than 4,000 people millionaires, the release concluded.
