New Hint Points to a Potential Big Change for ‘Borderlands 4’

While we haven’t seen much yet from Borderlands 4, the series’ next big game, which is expected to be released in 2025, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is now hinting at something that could be a game-changer.

This is due to this comment Borderlands content creator Joltz He mentioned that the series would one day potentially have “seamless” loading. This prompted Pitchford to ask, “Did you say smooth?” which caused him to reply.

Yes, three words, but it’s more than we usually get, and if this interpretation is correct, it could indicate a major change in Borderlands’ design. The idea here is that instead of being broken down into a series of specific “level” parts, each of which you have to load and unload, perhaps Borderlands could evolve into something akin to a seamless open world with different regions you create. Move towards a single map rather than being specifically blocked like in all past games.

This would certainly represent a significant shift for the series, and is now more attainable, perhaps due to the advancement of technology since 2019 for Borderlands 3. Or maybe it was never a technology thing and just a design call. This may now be reversed. In any case, I think it’s going to mix up the formula of a series that badly needs its formula mixed up at this point.

Another alternative theory is that the word “seamless” may refer to something related to starting and stopping boss farming in a game. A lot When you focus on boss farming, you have to save, quit, and reload every time you want to do a new fight. I imagine something more like Diablo 4’s system; Here you can farm much more easily by standing in one place and spawning the same boss over and over again.

I really don’t know what to expect from Borderlands 4. The series suffered an embarrassment a few months ago with the uniquely terrible and money-making Borderlands movie, but even after that fans will probably be content to pick apart the games they’ve played. It’s like an ill-fated attempt at multimedia. However, it feels like the game needs to evolve more than we’ve seen in the last two major sequels, instead of the same structure, same design, and same humor. At this point, I think the writing needs to improve.

As for a potentially perfect open world, if that’s the case, I’m all for it. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon if this game is supposed to be released in 2025, which starts in just two months.
