Coronation Street has confirmed a new romance for Cassie Plummer and Steve McDonald.

Earlier this year, Cassie started looking after Ken Barlow following his casewith the pair forming a close friendship.

Ken confided in Cassie about his recent £50,000 premium bond winnings, which he decided to spend on a holiday for both of them.

There were some sparks between Cassie and Steve after she started her nursing job, where Amy noticed that her father may have secret feelings – but he firmly denied his attraction.

In scenes airing on Sunday 27 October, Ken and Cassie plan their activities in Porto before going holiday shopping. A jealous Steve is then surprised to see Cassie looking fetching in her new jacket. These scenes are available to stream now ITVX.

Next week, Cassie reveals that she’s going on a date. But Steve isn’t impressed to hear about the man she’s meeting, leading Cassie to suspect he’s jealous.

When her date doesn’t go as planned, Steve arrives and takes her to the Rovers to boost her self-esteem. Will the spark between them be rekindled?

At #1, Ken is unaware that Cassie and Steve spent the night together. Adam later arrives at the house and is shocked to learn that his father has paid for airport lounge tickets and first class flights.

Adam reveals to Steve that he is worried about where Ken will find the money to pay for his and Cassie’s lavish lifestyle, and fears that he will end up in debt.

The pair then agree that they will hold a family intervention when Ken and Cassie return from Porto. Will Ken finally tell his family about his premium bond winnings?
