LPD expects to increase foot traffic downtown

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – With Halloween celebrations in full swing, the Laredo Police Department is expecting an increase in foot traffic downtown.

As a result, they will increase police presence in the area along with high traffic locations.

They will check that participants and bars are following the rules. The police explain that they have already seen an alarming amount of people alcohol and driving.

According to Joe Baeza with Laredo Police, “Having a good time doesn’t mean getting into fights in the middle of the street, being drunk and disorderly, or doing anything else. Bars also need to make sure they’re not already serving drunk people and minimize the risk of that get out of hand.”

Police are recommending that people attending the festivities have a designated driver to ensure they get home safely.
