The Tiruchi police are checking forerunners of agencies that arrange foreign jobs

The Tiruchi city police has conducted a special drive here to check the authenticity of private agencies and companies working in the city that sent people abroad for employment.

The drive was conducted at 24 locations falling under the limits of Cantonment, Sessions Court, E. Pudur, KK Nagar, Airport, Srirangam, Fort, Palakkarai, Thillai Nagar, Woraiyur and Government Hospital police stations.

This follows instructions from Tiruchi Superintendent of Police N. Kamini who had received several complaints from the public. Police teams led by 12 inspectors conducted the drive under the supervision of the two Deputy Superintendents of Police.

As part of their work, the police teams checked whether the private agencies and companies were properly registered and operating with government permits. The teams checked whether information about the people sent abroad for employment was properly maintained.

Inquiries were held with seven agents associated with as many agencies, a police news release said. The release appealed to the public to ensure that private agencies and companies that said they were sending people abroad were properly registered and duly recognized by the government before contacting them.

It appealed to the public not to fall prey to fake agents. Action as per law would be initiated against bogus companies and agents, the release added.
