Garmin has announced a new member of its luxury Marq family, and it’s even more expensive than the rest.

The Gen 2 Marq Adventurer Damascus Steel Edition is this new variant, and it costs $1000 more than titanium model for $3100.

It doesn’t seem to have any great new internal features, most of which are shared with somewhat more mainstream watches like the Garmin Fenix ​​8. But that doesn’t mean the MARQ Adventurer Damascus Steel Edition isn’t special.

You have most likely seen Damascus Steel used in its sheath in a high-end kitchen knife.

It is recognizable by its textured appearance, a side effect of the different steel formulations used in its forging.

These types of steel can have different levels of carbon, or different levels of hardness.

It makes for a casing design perhaps even more eye-catching than the Fused Carbon Fiber found in the Golfer fork in the Marq luxury family.

Garmin Marq Gen 2 features

Prepare your wrist as well as your wallet for the Marq Adventurer Damascus Steel Edition. It’s a hefty 81g, body only, compared to 59g for the titanium model. It weighs a total of 114g with the standard leather and rubber strap.

However, the visual statement is the main attraction here, as the Marq Adventurer Damascus Steel Edition doesn’t actually have all the innovations of the Fenix ​​8.

For example, it has 10ATM water resistance but not the dive-ready waterproof waterproofing of the Fenix. It doesn’t seem to support ECG functions of the latest models either.

This is because the base of this series, the Marq Gen 2, was was released in 2022. It also has a previous generation Elevate heart rate array, one that lacks the extra LEDs around the perimeter to prove mid-activity readings.

These Marq watches have a design feature not seen in other Garmin apparel, however, a magnetic charging port rather than the plain old four-pin plug type.

The Marq Adventurer (Gen 2) Damascus Steel Edition is available to order directly from Garmin, with a lead time of just “1-3 business days.” It retails for $3100, or £2799 in the UK.
