New charges filed against man arrested for three robberies in Goldsboro

GOLDSBORO, NC (WITN) – A man in jail for multiple store robberies has been charged with another robbery.

Goldsboro police on Wednesday charged Odell Sheffield Jr. with the Oct. 9 robbery at the Speedway on East Ash Street.

Police said an employee was assaulted and Sheffield fled with the cash register.

The 50-year-old man was charged with common law robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana.

Sheffield was accused of shoplifting at the Family Dollar on East Ash Street on Oct. 10.

The next day at another Family Dollar on Wayne Memorial Drive, police say Sheffield walked in and sprayed an employee with pesticide. Police said the man tried to break into the store’s register and attacked another employee. Police said the first employee was stabbed when he tried to intervene.

On Oct. 16, Boost Mobile on East Ash Street was also robbed. Police said in this robbery, Sheffield attempted to pepper spray an employee leaving the store.

Sheffield remains jailed without bond on the latest charges.
