Man charged with multiple crimes after woman stabbed

A 35-year-old man has been charged with multiple crimes after he allegedly stabbed a 37-year-old woman on a train.

On Saturday 23 November, emergency services were called to Ravensworth Railway Station at around 1.30pm following reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they learned of an altercation that occurred between two passengers before the woman was stabbed.

A woman was treated at the scene by NSW paramedics for stab wounds to the ribs. She was then flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

Shortly thereafter, police deployed a Taser and OC spray during an arrest against a man who was allegedly carrying a knife.

After the arrest, the man was taken to John Hunter Hospital under police guard. He was then released into police custody and taken to Waratah Police Station.

The police state that the man and woman are believed to be known to each other.

The man has since been charged with ten offenses including harming a person with intent to cause grievous harm (domestic violence), taking/investigating a person with intent to benefit/causing grievous bodily harm (domestic violence), committing a s114 offence, common assault (domestic violence ), stalk/intimidate refers to fear physical etc harm (domestic violence), two charges x common assault, two counts x stalk/intimidate intentional fear physical etc harm and frighten a police officer in the line of duty without grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court later today.
