Fantasy Football Outlook: Malik Nabers, Brandin Cooks, Noah Fant Injury Updates

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (groin), Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) and Seattle Seahawks tight end Noah Fant (groin) are three fantasy-relevant players dealing with injuries that could threaten their availability for their Week 12 game .

While they’ve had strikingly different seasons up to this point, it’s getting closer to the fantasy football playoffs, and with injuries piling up across the league, it’s important to have the latest information to make good start/sit decisions. You have to do everything you can to get an edge at this point.

Let’s break down the ailments afflicting these three players, how good their chances are to take the field and what their fantasy football prospects are going forward.

Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants

Nabers is currently dealing with a groin injury. It’s an issue he’s dealt with in the past, but he didn’t miss any games because of it. That could limit his effectiveness in the game, but the bigger question is how well new starting quarterback Tommy Devito can play.

Leek plans to take the field. The hope is that DeVito plans to give him the ball early and often. We know the rookie wideout is an elite player. He will open. The rest is not up to him. He should be started in all PPR leagues because he is a rebounder. It’s quite simple.

Brandin Cooks, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Cooks dealt with an infection in his knee that required surgery, and he has now missed six straight games with the ailment. The Cowboys had a bye week in Week 7, so he’s had seven weeks to rest now. He logged limited exercises every day of the week.

He is officially listed as “questionable” on Dallas’ injury report heading into Sunday. He remains on injured reserve and will need to be promoted to the active roster on Saturday if he is to play in Week 12. But you shouldn’t start him. His QB1, Dak Prescott (hamstring) is out for the season.

QB Cooper Rush, the backup who is supposed to start, has not been very effective. Cooks is now 31, coming off an injury and will have to deal with poor quarterback play. He is not worth playing in most leagues. Much of his production in 2023 came in blowout games when Dallas simply ran up the score.

Noah Fant, TE, Seattle Seahawks

Fant (groin) has now missed two games and had three weeks of rest due to the Seahawks’ bye week in Week 10. Seattle head coach Mike MacDonald said he is ‘optimistic’ Fant will be able to on Sunday, but it’s not set in stone yet.

The Seahawks have a pretty clean injury situation heading into their NFC West showdown with Arizona. Backup TE Brady Russell is out again but No. 1 TE Noah Fant is questionable, so he will have a chance to return after missing two games. KR Laviska Shenault Jr is also doubtful

Fant hasn’t been very fantasy relevant this season. However, he has at least three games with double-digit PPR points this season. In very deep TE premium leagues, he’s a decent option, but he should be benched or left on waivers the rest of the way.
