Pedro Neto reveals his top target and Chelsea hero | News | Official website

Pedro Neto was instrumental in our Premier League games before the international break, notably setting up Nicolas Jackson’s opener against Newcastle and then kicking us level with Arsenal. It’s a testament to the striker’s growing confidence and importance to the team.

That Arsenal goal was Neto’s first for us in the league, and he picked a great moment to produce it in front of the Matthew Harding Stand and with the Blues trailing our local rivals.

It is now three months since Neto arrived from Wolves and so he is well placed to analyze his start to life at Stamford Bridge, which has recently seen him force his way into our Premier League starting XI.

“In the beginning I was with the mentality that I had to improve my physicality,” he says.

‘When I arrived I hadn’t had a really good pre-season. I had almost none. I came from the EC with an injury, so when I came I had to be patient, and I had to work on myself.

“I’ve got a good shape and I hope to keep improving. I hope to be in my best shape to come, so that’s my main goal at the moment.’

Neto says the demands and size of the club is what separates Chelsea from Wolves, and the mentality of the players and Enzo Maresca is helping to accelerate our growth as a team.

Neto is determined to help Chelsea return to the top of the game. Asked who his Blues hero grew up with, he picks a player who was instrumental in two Premier League triumphs in the last decade.

“Eden Hazard, because of his relevance on the pitch, the way he plays, one on one, his natural positions on the pitch and the way he dribbles,” reveals Neto.

“He was the one I looked up to when I saw Chelsea.”

Now Neto wants to continue to make his own mark and inspire others.
