Double shooting leaves one man dead and one fighting for life in Birmingham | UK News

One man has been killed and another is fighting for his life after a shooting Birmingham.

Detectives have launched a homicide investigation after the pair were shot in Edgbaston late last night.

Officers were taken to Rotton Park Road shortly before 11pm on Friday where they found a man in his 20s seriously injured in a car. He was explained there a short time later.

The second victim, a man in his 30s, was found injured at a nearby bus stop.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Armed police arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder in nearby Waterloo Road just before 12.30pm.

He is still in custody.

Officers remain at the scene and road closures are in place, while reassurance patrols will also be carried out, West Midlands Police said.

Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from the homicide team, said: “This is a tragic incident and we have been working through the night to understand exactly what happened.

“We’ve already made good progress and apprehended a suspect, but I still need to hear from anyone who was in the area that we haven’t already spoken to.

“This happened near the busy junction with City Road and you may have dash cam or mobile phone footage from the area shortly before 11pm.

“We really need to hear from you so we can create as clear a picture as possible of what happened.”
