From techie to beggar: Bengaluru man’s heartbreaking story after losing girlfriend and parents

A techie-turned-beggar from Bengaluru has become a cautionary tale against the dangers of alcohol addiction. A man who identified himself as a former engineer at a technology company has been spotted begging on the streets of Bengaluru. His story came to light after three videos were shared on Instagram by user @sharath_yuvaraja_official over a week ago. In the first video, the man, wearing a red T-shirt and appearing disheveled, claimed to have worked for a leading technology consultancy in Global Village Tech Park – now known as Sattva Global City – near Mysuru Road before leaving his job.The videos have since gone viral and have garnered a lot of attention and support from social media users. According to the man, he started drinking heavily after losing his parents, which ultimately led him to a life of begging. The Instagram account that uploaded the videos stated that he was initially found on JSS College Road in Jayanagar 8th Block. One commenter mentioned seeing him in Jayanagar’s 4th Block days earlier, allegedly drunk. Reports indicate that he refused assistance when offered help.

In subsequent clips, the man spoke incoherently about topics such as meditation, David Hume’s philosophy, Albert Einstein’s theories and brain regions such as the hippocampus and amygdala. In one of the videos, he mentioned that he visited Frankfurt in 2013 and reflected on how his life had evolved, saying: “Religion, caste, all these things… look at what I’ve become. I need to read more, I need to read more .”

Sharath, the user who shared the videos, has provided updates on the situation, including attempts to involve an NGO for help. But in a follow-up recording, a doctor explained that no volunteer organization would accept the man without police involvement.
