Keir Starmer questioned about Birmingham pub bombing investigation.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said he understands the frustrations of the Birmingham pub bombing campaign, but has refused to set a time frame for a decision on a possible public inquiry.

He was grilled during a series of interviews with BBC local radio presenters around England, including BBC Radio WM’s Kath Stanczyszyn.

“We are engaging with the community and campaigning,” he said, adding that the government would listen to those affected by the 1974 atrocity.

Asked how much longer families would have to wait, he said: “We will continue to talk to them and engage and come to a decision as quickly as we can.”

The series of interviews is available on BBC Sounds.
