Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office to participate in the nationwide “Make It Click” campaign

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will participate in a nationwide campaign this month to enforce seat belt use.

The “Make It Click” campaign aims to promote awareness and increase the use of seat belts and child restraint systems.

From Saturday 23rd November until Sunday 1st December LSO will have additional deputies running traffic on an individual basis.

These additional deputies will be used for saturation patrols to enforce traffic violations throughout Lancaster County in marked patrol cars, the LSO said.

Overtime for the additional deputies will be paid through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.

According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, the state ranks 49th in the nation for seat belt use. So far in 2024, there have been 223 vehicle fatalities in Nebraska, with 70 percent (119) of those people not wearing seat belts.
