Premier Inn guests were evacuated after smoke filled hotels in Jersey

Guests and staff had to leave the Premier Inn in St Helier at midnight on Thursday after smoke filled one of the corridors and triggered a fire alarm.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Services were alerted when smoke was visible on the second floor of the Premier Inn Hotel on Bath Street.

Upon arrival, the first crews prepared to enter with two firefighters wearing medium-line breathing apparatus.

A room on the second floor was quickly identified as the main cause of concern but once gained access it was quickly established that there was no fire in this room, although smoke was coming from it.
