Goa unemployment crisis deepens with explosive ‘Cash-For-Jobs’ scandal!

The coastal state of Goa is embroiled in a massive ‘Cash-for-Jobs’ scam, leaving citizens shocked and angry. Dozens of people were duped of crores of rupees in exchange for false promises of government jobs. The police have so far registered 30 cases and arrested over 30 people connected to the scam. The scandal has put the ruling BJP on the defensive as names of several party functionaries and their associates have surfaced during the investigation. The opposition parties are demanding a judicial inquiry and are questioning Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s role in the matter. Goa Forward party leader Vijay Sardesai has alleged ministerial interference and demanded an impartial investigation. Amidst these developments, CM Pramod Sawant stated that no one has got a clean slate yet. With unemployment in Goa at 13.7%, one of the highest in India, the controversy has further raised concerns about job opportunities for the state’s youth. The opposition has stepped up its attacks, with protests and public outcry growing stronger by the day.
